Water and Sewerage Compliance Officer

About the role

Council is seeking a qualified Plumber or Water Operator for this critical role in our Water and Sewerage team. As Water and Sewerage Compliance Officer your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that private water and sewerage infrastructure installed upstream of the point of connection to Council's water and sewerage systems conforms to the requirements of the Plumbing Code of Australia and AS 3500
  • Assessing and processing Trade Waste Discharge Applications for approval and monitoring compliance with the conditions of approval
  • Undertaking inspections and witness testing of water and sewer infrastructure being constructed for new developments to ensure compliance to relevant construction standards prior to handover to Council
  • Assisting in sampling to monitor the environmental compliance of Council's water and sewerage facilities

About you

  • Qualifications as a Plumber or Water Operator
  • Class C drivers licence
  • Computer skills including competency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Thorough knowledge of the NSW Plumbing Code of Practice, AS 3500 and EPA licences for sewerage systems
  • Knowledge of trade waste regulations and practices
  • Knowledge of construction of water and sewerage infrastructure
  • Ability to assist customers in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Ability to interpret statistical data
